The Chairs Trophy
02 Nov 2021
Back in 1999 I was on holiday in Spain with my family when I saw the Dolphins for sale in a local craft market and they had to come home with me.
I then commissioned a friend and talented wood turner to do the base and Striacroft Jewellers to do the metal work. My trophy was born was but what to call it ? rather than the obvious I decided to keep a part of the club history by naming it ‘The Chairman’s Trophy’.
It was introduced into Club Champs in 2000 and is award for the most promising Performance Swimmer.
I would like to think it has been well loved over the past 20 years and had suffered because of this and needed TLC / restoration.
Who to ask? non other than Mrs Irene Arliss? again back in the day Irene was our lead coach for many years at the old Victoria Road pool. A local well know nurse by day a very talented wood carver by night.
The results speak for themselves
