Once a Skills Squad swimmer has mastered the basics of competitive swimming they move on to Development Squad. Development training hours start at 5 ½ (including morning training at 6am), progressing to 7 hours and the emphasis is quite different from Skills.
Once a swimmer has proven their technical and physical ability to swim regularly and competitively, they will be offered a place in our Performance Squad. This squad undertakes 11 hours of swim training each week plus 1.5 hours on a Saturday on a 3 week rotation, together with 1 hour of land training to maintain flexibility and build core strength.
We introduce the swimmers into the world of racing in a fun and nurturing environment. We spend a great deal of time on all strokes including the fifth; kick. Along with racing, starts and turns, these are all coached to a competitive standard, rivaling that of the largest clubs in the country.
Our Pod squad provides children with their first steps into the world of competitive swimming. It runs as a 10 week block of swimming sessions, including a trial session in the first block offered. The squad trains for an hour between 4-5pm on a Sunday afternoon.
